About our school

We pride ourselves on our ability to provide a high quality education for our pupils and our close partnership with our families and with the wider community.

We work closely with each parent, carer and family and we believe that this close co-operation between home and school is a key part of our success.

Hudson Road serves a diverse inner city area which supports our work in offering a rich, challenging and exciting learning experience. We have a convenient city centre location and our catchment area includes Hendon, the City Centre and the East End. Our numbers also include children from further afield who welcome our friendly child-centred approach.

We are a primary school for boys’ and girls’ of all abilities from 3-11 years of age. The school is not affiliated to any particular religious denomination.

Our popular Breakfast Club is open every day from 8.00-8.50am in the community room. This is free to attend and we are grateful for support from Greggs and a local business to fund this provision.

The school was completely refurbished in 2005 and offers a modern, bright and spacious learning environment. The children have access to a number of outdoor areas including a large playing field, all weather playground areas and a quiet friendship garden. Early Years have their own dedicated outdoor learning environment including grassed and garden areas.

We have a creative, child centred curriculum that includes regular visits to local places of interest as well as travelling to Newcastle and further afield. Y5 and Y6 pupils take part in residential visits to the High Pennines and the Lake District.

We have an annual Science Fair to showcase our exciting science investigations.
